a challenge for you today

DETOX TIME

Some of us, many of us, heard at least once about detox and if you go on Google and just put detox you will get millions of results and most of them are about detoxifying our bodies: strategies, recipes, diets, quick fixes and so on.
So the fair conclusion for me at least is that a big percentage of the population is very interested in knowing or maybe even doing body detoxes, usually when the spring starts and beginning of fall. And it definitely has its role and I will leave it to the experts to talk about it knowing that I had my share of trials with this topic through the years.

What I want to challenge you to consider today is a different type of detox: a mental detox! That kind of detox where we look at our beliefs, at our prejudices, at our thoughts and challenge the truth in them. That kind of assessment that makes us sit down with ourselves and just figure out how all of those influence our emotions, our behaviors, our relationships, and ultimately our life experiences.
Did you know that …
  • We as a human collectivity are experiencing a dramatic increase in the rise of psychiatric and mental health related diseases
  • Anti-anxiety medication and cancer are at an all-time high and 23% of women in their 40s and 50s take antidepressants
  • More than 1 in 12 teens have attempted suicide in the last year
  • By the year 2020, depression is projected to reach 2nd place in the global disease rank
  • 80% of today’s diseases have been linked to stress
  • We are continuously distracting ourselves through food, overworking and other addictions
Did you also know that it has now been demonstrated by numerous studies that our thoughts influence our feelings, our feelings influence our actions and ultimately our actions influence our lives?
We, as complex and perfect human beings live in several dimensions, not just the physical one, so if we follow simple logic we should take care of all of our aspects: mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. And it is my belief that the mental realm sits as a gateway to all of our other aspects. It is our choice if we make it a portal to a wonderful inner and outer world or if we let it be a gatekeeper, preventing us to truly be living from a space of love instead of fear.
